Description

ENDELMAN RESIDENCE
omaha, nebraska

An enlarged kitchen, sunny new solarium and improved comfort for the bathroom work together with the design of this traditional, Tudor-style home in central Omaha’s Regency neighborhood.  To expand the size of the kitchen and create room for an island, all appliances found a new home in the north side of the space; pocket doors serve an expanded entryway.  A cavity in the existing walls and corner units swell storage options, while a ceiling alcove makes the room feel larger.  Incorporated with the kitchen is the large, glass-roofed solarium on the west side of the home.  Replacing windows with patio doors creates a connection to the patio, and a trellis along the outside decorates an outdoor seating area.  Renovations to the bathroom include a large, walk-in closet on the west side to replace smaller closets on both sides, installing individual sinks, a vaulted ceiling, windows for passive solar heat, electrical radiant heating for the tile floors, and moving the entrance for installation of a new shower to take advantage of the existing curved wall.
